nice to meet you!

Iā€™m a designer, animator, husband, father, and artist, living in Apex NC. Hereā€™s a little more about me.

Designer | Animator

ā€œIf youā€™re sitting in your minivan, playing your computer animated films for your children in the back seat, is it the animation thatā€™s entertaining you as you drive and listen? No, itā€™s the storytelling. Thatā€™s why we put so much importance on story. No amount of great animation will save a bad story.

— John Lasseter

Design and animation are such powerful tools for storytelling. Iā€™ve always loved a good story. As a child and into my teens, I loved to read comic books. The way they combined gripping storytelling with art made the characters and stories come alive for me. I would also marvel at the TV as I watched the Ninja Turtles go on fun animated adventures. I would sit with my eyes darting back and forth between the TV and the pencil and pad in my hand, trying to recreate the animations I saw on the screen in my post-it notes flip books. I have always loved visual design and animation as an avenue for telling stories, and in recent years Iā€™ve come to appreciate them as powerful tools to drive the user experience.

 Family Man

In 2015 I was lucky enough to marry my best friend of almost a decade. Weā€™ve had busy lives since then. We moved across the country, got a dog, had our first child, and started a business all before our second anniversary. We have 2 beautiful, silly, and incredibly imaginative little girls. We love to play princess dress-up, build with Legos, read stories, and watch Bluey. (If you have kids you have to watch it). My family is incredibly important to me and I feel lucky every day to have them in my life.

 Artist

I have always loved drawing. When I was a kid, I often found myself tucked away in a quiet corner for hours trying to make Spider-Manā€™s webs look juuust right. For the past few years, Iā€™ve been trying my hand at digital art. I mostly enjoy drawing super nerdy things like superheroes and video game characters. Drawing is mostly something I do for fun but Iā€™ve had the opportunity to take on some commissions for individuals and a small business. Where appropriate, I love being able to add a little bit of my artistic flair into any design or animation projects that I am a part of.  Business Owner

In early 2008 I got a job at Jamba Juice. I was trained by my high school best friend who would one day become my wife. I continued to work for Jamba all the while climbing the ladder along the way, until an opportunity presented itself in 2015. My wife grew up in Atlanta and it had always been her dream to own a Jamba somewhere in the south. So after being married for about 6 months we packed our bags and drove all the way from Utah to North Carolina to make our dreams come true! We opened our Jamba on January/11/2017. Owning and operating a Jamba has been an invaluable experience that I will always be grateful for, but after a while, I started to feel a craving to do something different, to help people in a different way, and to have the ability to be more creative with my work. So after helping her realize her dream, my wonderful, supportive wife has taken on the sole responsibility for our business so that I could pursue my dream. Because of that support I have been able to completely shift my career path to something that I find more fulfilling.
